Wish there was somewhere you could go to experience the freshest, seasonal ingredients and enjoy delicious dishes without worrying about your bank balance?
Well, you’re in luck, as there’s a neighbourhood restaurant in Moseley where you can find just that, and it’s everything you’ve been missing in your life.
Introducing Little Blackwood.
Located on Alcester Road, Moseley, Little Blackwood is a delightful neighbourhood restaurant and bar serving fresh, locally-sourced ingredients in a relaxed and friendly setting.
Little Blackwood is the brainchild of the talented, award-winning chef, Ben Taylor. This neighbourhood restaurant in Moseley is Ben’s first restaurant back in his home town of Birmingham, and it’s a special one. Inspired by the taste experiences from his extensive travels around the world, Ben is bringing something different to Moseley. With the focus on high-quality ingredients at affordable prices, this restaurant might just become your new favourite hangout.
At Little Blackwood, the focus is very much on the food. It’s clear that the quality of ingredients is of utmost importance and only the freshest, best quality ingredients are used in the restaurant (indeed, the same calibre of ingredients you might find in some of the high end, fine-dining restaurants in the city). Everything is locally-sourced, with all of the ingredients being found within a 35 mile radius of the restaurant – and the menu changes monthly to keep the focus on the freshest, seasonal ingredients.
You might be forgiven for thinking that everything on the menu must be on the pricier side if only the best ingredients are used, but Ben and his team are determined to keep things affordable. The menu delivers delicious, seasonal flavours from some of the finest ingredients whilst remaining accessible and is served in a relaxed setting – making this the perfect choice both for special occasions, and relaxed mid-week dining.
With the menu changing regularly, there will always be something new and exciting to try. The dishes are innovative, seasonal, locally-sourced and served in style. The fresh, high-quality ingredients take centre stage throughout the menus. From the meat to the fish (which is selected each day from the market for the freshest ingredients possible) and the vegetables, every ingredient is carefully selected and through clever cooking, made to shine.
On Thursday and Friday evenings and Friday and Saturday lunch, diners can select from the a la carte menu for a very reasonably priced two courses for £24 or three courses for £28. Saturday evenings are done differently, with the option of two tasting menus featuring 5 or 7 courses (£45 and £60 respectively) with wine pairing on request. Wednesday evenings are solely focussed on seafood, with no menu, just a selection of the freshest oysters, shellfish and fish prepared on the evening. Sundays are, naturally, all about the roast with a menu that changes weekly.
How about the drinks? Well, to accompany the beautiful, hyper-fresh food there’s a selection of wines, sparkling wines and cocktails. They even serve Aperol spritz, the European holiday staple – to help you feel like you’re sunning it up in the Med, from right here in Brum.
So, if you’re looking for a laid-back, affordable restaurant which serves the very best ingredients around, then look no further. Little Blackwood needs to be next on your to visit list.
