It might sound cheesy but this place is un-brie-lievable.
Fresh off the back of a wonderful refurbishment, this fantastic independent has re-opened and they’re dialling up the flavour to new heights, with cheese boards from open to close.
Introducing Cheddar.

Located on Pershore Road, Stirchley, Cheddar is the cheese and wine bar bringing people together over a glass and a board.
We could ‘wheel’ out some tired old cheese puns about what a ‘grate’ time you’ll have at this cheese and wine bar, but we’re better than that… Ok, we’re not really but you’ve probably heard all of the cheesy puns before. So, instead we’ll just tell you all about how awesome Cheddar is and why you need to visit.

As the name would suggest, this place is all about the cheese (and the wine, don’t forget the wine!). Is there anything more delightfully indulgent than sitting down with an excellent glass of wine and a selection of mouth-watering cheeses and spending the evening grazing and sipping whilst you put the world to rights with your pals? We think not. To us, it’s the perfect way to spend an evening (or afternoon, or heck an entire day if you have enough cheese). That’s exactly what you can do at this ace bar in Stirchley.

Let’s talk cheese! That’s right, we’re getting straight to the good stuff. At Cheddar they expertly hand-pick the finest selection of cheeses from the UK and Europe for your eating pleasure. Then you just need to choose what size board to order (but the answer is always the biggest) and await your delicious selection of the finest cheeses. Simple. Easy. No fuss. All the cheese. Your cheeses will come with a selection of accompaniments (quince, capers, grapes, apples, crackers etc) and if you’re not feeling cheesy you can always just order some olives or almonds to nibble on instead.

The wine list at Cheddar is carefully curated to provide a thoughtfully chosen selection of reds, whites, roses, orange wine and Pet Nat – but the list is short and sweet. You won’t find pages and pages of choices which is great for those who are frozen by indecision and find an extensive list leaves them feeling completely overwhelmed by choice. Instead, there’s a hand-picked selection of artisan wines with something for everyone to enjoy, and if you need some help and advice choosing the perfect wine the friendly staff are on hand to provide guidance. If you’re not a wine fan, there are a selection of other drinks to choose from too, including craft beer and soft drinks.

In the biggest plot twist since The Red Wedding (IYKYK) Cheddar are introducing something new and exciting for their reopening too – the awesome BA-HA will be taking over the kitchen Monday – Thursday, offering a menu of mouth-watering, plant-based small plates (which will be available alongside the cheeseboards too). Perfect for sharing, you can mix and match, throw in a cheeseboard or stick to your favourites – it’s up to you! But with the likes of Miso Butter Corn Ribs, Truffle Polenta Fries, Shiitake Skewers, Rosé Pickled Beetroot and more – you’re going to want to try these small plates.

On top of all of this, on occasion you can shop for your own cheeses too. Once a month, the front of the store can be opened up to form the perfect cheese-shopping counter for your perusal. Stock up on your favourite cheeses and enjoy them in the comfort of your own home (or gift them to a cheese-loving friend).

The interior of the bar is decidedly dive bar-esque with low lighting, dark walls and tables, and a moody vibe. The red lighting gives the place a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ and a cosy feel in the evenings, whilst the natural light from the windows makes this a cool place for a drink in daylight hours. You can send them a DM on Instagram to book (recommended for weekends) but walk-ins are welcome too. As they like to say – they take their cheese seriously, they take their wine seriously but they don’t take themselves too seriously.

If you love cheese and wine, or simply fancy another watering hole to choose from, then this little bar is a great place to frequent.
