One thing we love here at Independent Birmingham, is a success story.
When we hear of street food traders who’ve risen in popularity to the point they can open their very own permanent venue, it brings a smile to our faces.
Introducing Cafe Kibo.

Located on Bristol Road South, Longbridge, Cafe Kibo is the East Asian inspired cafe from the popular street food trader, Hope You’re Hungry.
The fantastic Hope You’re Hungry has been serving up some of the tastiest street food dishes on the circuit for the last few years, growing in popularity and making a name for themselves with their delicious East Asian inspired eats. From bao to award-winning wings, and lots more in between, they’ve produced some of the tastiest dishes around.

Now, they’ve taken the leap to open their very own place – an East Asian inspired coffee shop and street food cafe called Cafe Kibo. This wonderful cafe serves all manner of tasty treats from bubble tea and proper coffee to bao, Japanese sandos and more! If you love Asian flavours, then this place needs to be high up on your to visit list.

The menu at Cafe Kibo is packed full of big hitting, crowd-pleasing, street food favourites. So whether you turn up for breakfast and enjoy a delicious speciality coffee alongside a mouth-watering breakfast Sando (yep, it’s as delicious as it sounds) or you head over for a seriously tasty lunch and grab yourself a Katsu curry, a selection of bao, and more – there’s always something truly delicious on the menu for you to enjoy.

The breakfast menu features some tasty dishes that are sure to set you up for the day. Choose from a bao or a sando (made using beautiful Shokupan bread – so it’s a proper sando) and then select your choice of fillings (think bacon, sausage or both, with egg and cheese, or veggie/vegan sausage). Add a side of mini hash browns to take your breakfast up an extra notch (trust us, always add the hash browns) and you’ll be starting your day the right way. Perfect paired with one of their delicious coffees (made using Quarter Horse beans).

On the lunchtime menu, you’ll find bao and sando again (with optional chips on the side), this time with a choice of Asian inspired fillings such as pork belly, fried chicken (with a choice of sauce) or crispy tofu. For the evening, there’s a choice of bao, rice bowls and Katsu dishes – all served with a choice of delicious Asian-inspired flavours and ingredients. The food is the stuff of your street food dreams, served in a cosy cafe setting for the ultimate casual feast.

The cafe itself is small and cosy with a mix of tables and bar-style seating. The light and airy décor gives a bright feel to the space with pops of pink and green in-keeping with Cafe Kibo’s signature branding. This is a lovely, welcoming space to enjoy some light bites, packed with flavour and cooked with love. Go check them out now.
