I love ramen, you love ramen, we all love ramen!
If you’re looking for a bowl of the good stuff in Brum, we know a place that serves up the very best.
Introducing Koba-Ko.

Located on York Road (tucked away above Grace + James), Koba-Ko is the place to go when you crave an epic bowl of ramen.
When it comes to getting your hands on a comforting bowl of the very best in Brum, there’s no better place to go than Koba-Ko. Having spent the last few years popping up across town and treating you lucky peeps to some of the most delicious ramen around, Koba-Ko has found a home tucked away above York Road wine bar Grace + James.

This wonderful foodie hotspot is all about the comfort food and giving customers an authentic taste of this popular Japanese dish. Ramen is truly a labour of love, and Koba-Ko’s Sam and his team put in the hours to ensure that every bowl is perfectly seasoned, packed with flavour, and instantly satisfying from the first mouthful to the last.

Choose between the Tokyo Shoyu (house noodles, chicken and niboshi double soup, shoyu tare, chi-yu (chicken fat); chashu pork belly, sous vide pork collar, menma, green onion, nitamago (egg), narutomaki) or the vegan Kinoko Shoyu (house noodles, shitake and himematsutake dashi, shoyu tare, aroma oil (ginger and green onion), chashu tofu, compressed kohlrabi, menma, green onion, spinach). Whichever you choose, you can expect delicious depth of flavour, perfectly balanced, rich and comforting comfort food in a bowl. And you always have the option to add some extra toppings to your dish to have it just the way you like it.

Alongside their incredible ramen, Koba-Ko also offer Japanese inspired small plates. So, don’t fear if you don’t like ramen (although we urge you to give it a try because their ramen is truly phenomenal and will convert even the most hesitant amongst you), there are plenty of other tasty morsels to enjoy. From the likes of Salmon Sashimi to Negima (BBQ chicken thigh, green onion, yakitori tare), Shinjaga Kare (grilled new potatoes, curry gravy, crispy shallots, wild garlic mayo, house furikake), and more, you’ll find a changing selection of delicious small plates. Perfect for sharing, or as a little something extra alongside your ramen, these small plates are absolutely delicious and worth the trip to Koba-Ko alone.

The menu changes regularly, so make sure to keep an eye out for new menu drops and seasonal specials. They like to change up the dishes to reflect the seasons with lighter broths and soups in the summer, and heavier, richer broths in the colder months, with regular changes to the small plates menus too. Whenever you visit, the menu is always packed with big flavours and you’re sure to enjoy a delicious Japanese feast.

To accompany your delicious ramen and small plates, they offer a carefully selected drinks menu with lots of Japanese inspired drinks. From hand-picked bottles of Sake to Japanese beers and a selection of cocktails made with Japanese ingredients, there are plenty of tasty options to choose from.

The space itself is cosy and intimate, with only a few seats available (so booking is highly encouraged if you want to guarantee a table). With wooden tables, low lighting and shelves of Sake bottles, this is a relaxed and welcoming space for some tasty food.

Whether you’re a full-blown ramen fan or a first-timer, there’s no better place to tuck into a steaming bowl of the good stuff than Koba-Ko. This is your reminder to go book a table now.
