Introducing Spingere.
Located on Islington Row Middleway, Spingere is a neighbourhood restaurant bringing a taste of Italy to Edgbaston.
Spingere is a wonderful independent restaurant which focuses on all forms of Italian cuisine, with a particular emphasis on authentic Northern and Central Italian dishes, including those often overlooked. As well as serving classic pizza and pasta dishes, cooked and served how they are in Italy, this lovely little restaurant also serves dishes that incorporate a twist from the owners’ Asian background too.
The restaurant was founded on the site previously occupied by the beloved Laghi’s, by one of their former chefs. Drawing inspiration from the years of experience gleaned from working at Laghi’s (as well as other Italian restaurants), they kept true to the site’s previous heritage of Italian cooking, and you’ll find some favourite dishes from past Laghi’s menus on the specials board occasionally too.
On the menu at Spingere you’ll find a selection of mouth-watering Antipasti, fresh pasta dishes, delicious mains and sides, and tempting desserts. With pasta dishes like Tagliatelle with Lamb Ragu, Gnocchi with wild garlic pesto and semi-dried tomatoes and Caserecce with nduja and gorgonzola, there are lots of bold flavours on the menu.
Mains such as Porchetta with fennel puree, and demi-glacee, Aubergine Parmigiana, or Market Fish of the Day offer a delicious and comforting take on authentic Italian dishes, and of course there are lots of tasty Antipasti dishes to start your feast the right way including Beef Carpaccio, Bruschetta, Calamari, and more.
Alongisde their core menu, you’ll also find a selection of Weekend Specials which change every week, inspired by the fresh produce and seasonal items they can find in local markets. Vegetables are sourced from their own farm in Solihull, and fish and seafood are bought fresh, directly from the wholesale markets.
If you’re in the mood for a pizza, then good news – Spingere do pizzas too! With a selection of delicious Italian toppings to choose from, including everything from a classic Margherita to Mortadella, Creamy Burrata and Pistachio, or Seasonal Vegetables, there’s something for all tastes. Finish off your Italian feast with a classic dessert including Tiramisu, Panna Cotta or a scoop or two of gelato.
On the drinks menu, you’ll find a selection of wines, beers and soft drinks as well as everyone’s favourote Italian tipple – a good spritz! Whether you go for a classic Aperol Spritz or a Limoncello Spritz, you can’t go wrong with one of these refreshing cocktails.
