Not all tacos are created equal.

Introducing A La Mexicana.

Located on Sandon Road, Bearwood, A La Mexicana is the authentic Mexican restaurant bringing the heat to Bearwood’s streets.

A La Mexicana have been a firm favourite of foodies in the know ever since they opened, and with good reason. If you’ve somehow missed the memo then this is your sign to book yourself a table and discover for yourself the mouth-watering flavours of Mexico at this fantastic, family-run restaurant.

At A La Mexicana, they like to keep things simple. But simple doesn’t mean boring. It just means that there’s nothing on the plate that doesn’t need to be there. The flavours and recipes are authentic, passed down through generations of the family (who own and operate this brilliant eatery together). The focus is on the food, and the flavours are immense. If you love tacos and Mexican food, you really can’t go wrong with a trip to this wonderful restaurant. You won’t find more authentic Mexican dishes anywhere else in Brum.

On the menu you’ll find a selection of Mexican favourites from Nachos and Huevos Rancheros to Tortillas, Tacos and Tostadas. Everything is made fresh in the restaurant using authentic ingredients for maximum taste and enjoyment. We might be biased (because we have an overwhelming weakness for tacos) but the tacos here really are the star of the show. The tortillas are made fresh each day and hand pressed (not a sad, limp, Old El Paso in sight), and the toppings are all packed with flavour – each one distinct and delicious. If you love tacos as much as us, then they are an absolute must, and there are lots of flavours to choose from (such as chicken tinga, chorizo, carnitas, birria and more).

Of course, whatever you try is just as delicious and their homemade nachos are the perfect start to your feast, and for the hungry ones among you, we recommend trying out some of their mains (as well as tacos, of course). Freshly made burritos, enchiladas or specials such as pork ribs in adobo sauce, or mole enchiladas, are all just as delicious and there are so many different dishes for you to try on each visit. To top it all off, they offer some truly incredible desserts too. The desserts are always made fresh and regularly change but you can usually find some flavour of cheesecake (think Mango, Oreo, or even Rice Pudding flavour).

To accompany your delicious food, you’ll need some equally delicious drinks. Whether you choose to quench your thirst on a Margarita or two (it’d be rude not to, right?), a Sol beer, or a Jarritos (authentic Mexican soft drinks) there’s always the perfect accompaniment to be found on their drinks menu. Naturally they have a great selection of Tequilas and Mezcals and some tasty cocktails too.

The restaurant itself is laid-back and casual, with nods to the family’s Mexican heritage throughout the décor (Sombreros on the walls, Mexican flag bunting, and more). With wooden tables and chairs and bright orange walls, this is a fun and vibrant place to enjoy a casual bite to eat. You won’t find glitz and glamour here, but you will find truly delicious and authentic food (and that’s what it’s all about).

Whether you pop in for a glorious lunch or you have a leisurely evening feast, the service is always so warm and friendly (you really feel like part of the family) and the food is always delicious. If you’re yet to experience this little slice of Mexico in Brum, then make sure to grab yourself a table immediately and go enjoy some of the best Mexican food of your life. You can thank us later.
