Though we don’t buy into trends and fads, it’s undisputed that neighbourhood restaurants are really having a moment, and when they’re this good you can’t deny that it’s a wonderful thing for us foodies.

Introducing Fox, Hampton Lane.

Located on (unsurprisingly) Hampton Lane (Solihull), Fox, Hampton Lane is the chic neighbourhood restaurant where you can enjoy great food and a relaxed setting.

The principles guiding the team at Fox are simple, seasonal, and sustainable. Focusing on these three key words drives their menus and their offering and creates a wonderful way to experience delicious produce and ingredients cooked with thought and consideration, giving you the very best dining experience.

This fantastic neighbourhood restaurant is open for breakfast, coffee, lunch and dinner giving you plenty of opportunity to go and experience their delightful offering. Whether you stop by for a quick coffee on your way past or you linger over a leisurely lunch you’re sure to have a wonderful experience at this chic but laid-back restaurant.

The food menu at Fox is unapologetically small and simple (no giant books of pages of different dishes to wade through here) sticking to their ethos of simple, seasonal, and sustainable. Only seasonal, fresh ingredients are used in their dishes and the majority come from the British Isles with much of the produce they use coming from local farms and suppliers from The Midlands. The dishes change regularly, keeping things fresh and exciting as the seasons dictate the very best ingredients.

Although the dishes change you can always expect a mix of meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan dishes using the very best ingredients and cooked beautifully. Example of dishes might include Wye Valley asparagus with brown butter hollandaise and crispy onions, Baked Cornish plaice with giant couscous, courgette, feta and fennel sauce, and baked peach cobbler with clotted cream ice cream. The menus are excellent value for money and a great mid-range dining option for both special occasions and every day dining.

As well as their lunch and dinner menus, you can also enjoy a delicious Sunday breakfast and mouth-watering Sunday Roasts too. On the breakfast menu you’ll find a carefully curated selection of tasty options from loaded hash browns to granola bowls and eggs on toast. For Sunday Roasts you can expect perfectly cooked roast meats (such as pork loin or dry aged Yorkshire beef) served with all the trimmings (we’re talking bone marrow roasties, tenderstem broccoli, braised carrot, hispi cabbage, and pan gravy – as well as Yorkshire pud with the beef, or apple sauce with the pork).

In keeping with their ethos, the drinks list is just as thoughtfully curated as their brilliant food menus. For the beer fans they have premium ale and lager on tap from Silhill Brewery (just a stone’s throw from the restaurant) as well as Birmingham-brewed craft lager cans and organic cider from Solihull-based Darkside, made from sustainably-sourced English apples. For the wine lovers they have a selection of natural wines for you to enjoy (and if you really like them, you can even take some away in a refillable bottle to enjoy at home too). They even have a selection of low or no alcohol drinks too, with some interesting twists. There really is something for everyone to enjoy.

If you’re just stopping by for a coffee, then you know this will be just as high quality as the rest of their offering. In fact they serve locally roasted Quarter Horse Coffee (indies supporting other indies, we love it) so you know it’ll be the best cup around. Sit in and relax and enjoy your delicious coffee with a freshly baked pastry from Knowle’s Artisan Bakery, or take it to go and enjoy as you go about your day.

On top of all this, they also offer a place to stock up on delicious bread, stocking both sourdough loaves from the local bakery and their own in-house baked focaccia. Stop by to pick up a loaf (and a quick coffee while you’re there) or even set up a weekly order so you never run out of that essential bread.

The interior of the restaurant is calm and neutral giving a chic, laid-back vibe to this popular neighbourhood spot. In the summer months they have a covered terrace and garden in which to enjoy the balmy temperatures and delicious glimpses of sunshine that we all crave. This place truly is the perfect neighbourhood spot, offering something for everyone. Make sure to pop over and pay them a visit.
