If you’re a foodie in Birmingham, then these guys need no introduction, but indulge us anyway.

Legends of the foodie scene, from street food to bricks and mortar, the purveyors of filth…

Introducing Original Patty Men.

Located on Shaw’s Passage, Digbeth, Original Patty Men is where you go when your burger cravings strike, and only the best will do.

It’s tough these days for independent businesses to remain open, so it truly is remarkable when places have been open for a decade or more, and a true testament to the quality of their offering. Enter Original Patty Men (O.P.M.) who have been on the scene for over ten years, and aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Having quit their previous jobs, Tom and Scott (founders of O.P.M.) were on a mission to create a truly epic independent burger in Brum, back when they were pretty hard to find. Having burst onto the street food scene, taking the early Digbeth Dining Club days by storm and building up a strong reputation for slinging out the best burgs in town (and thanks to * that * iconic Krispy Kreme burger – IYKYK), they took the big step of opening their very own burger joint, whilst still maintaining a strong presence on the street food circuit.

Their Digbeth based burger restaurant is found on Shaw’s Passage, tucked away under the railway arches behind Moor Street Station, and is home to some of the very best burgs in Brum. If by some miracle you still haven’t paid them a visit, then that needs to be rectified immediately. Once you go O.P.M. there’s no going back.

On the menu at this ace restaurant are their signature burgers (and of course some tasty specials), mouth-watering sides and a dessert or two. All of their burgers are made fresh using high quality ingredients, and their signature Aged Longhorn Beef Patties make these some of the tastiest burgers around.

Their seriously naughty burgers are the thing of dreams and there are several options to choose from, plus regularly changing specials too. Go for a classic flavour like the Cheezy-E (aged longhorn beef patty, American cheese, lettuce, white onion, pickle and Boss Man sauce) or the Bacon Cheese (aged longhorn beef patty, streaky bacon, American cheese, lettuce, red onion, pickle, ketchup, and American mustard), or go for the Pineapple Express ( aged longhorn beef patty, cheddar cheese, streaky bacon, lettuce, red jalapeno, tomato and pineapple hot sauce) or the Alabama Slammer (deep fried boneless chicken thigh, lime and ginger slaw and a choice of Alabama sauce or Frank’s hot sauce).

There are some tasty veggie and vegan options on the menu too including The Vegan One featuring a fried tofu patty and sriracha hot sauce or the Po Money Po Mushroom – a panko breaded mushroom Po’boy style sandwich. If you fancy something extra on the sides there’s house slaw, boneless nugz (deep fried chicken nuggets), a great choice of fries either naked or loaded with tasty toppings, and they have a selection of tasty chicken wings too (BBQ, Alabama, or Buffalo).

The restaurant itself is stripped back and industrial, a great casual place to enjoy some tasty burgers. You’ll catch their signature cartoon branding dotted around, and there’s plenty of seating at the wooden tables. If there’s a short wait for a table when you arrive, you can join the list and pop next door to their bar Kilder to enjoy a drink while you wait.

If you’re somehow yet to visit this legendary burger joint, or if you’re just well overdue a return trip (or even if you went there yesterday) – consider this your reminder to go and gobble up some tasty burgers by the best.
