Birmingham’s craft beer scene is just going from strength to strength, and it’s a glorious thing to behold when one of Brum’s finest indies proves so popular that they’re able to expand their dreams further and add another fabulous venue to their roster.

Introducing The Barrel Store.

Located on Water Street in the Jewellery Quarter, The Barrel Store is a bar and barrel-ageing facility from the awesome team behind Brum’s beloved Attic Brew Co.

There’s nothing quite like enjoying a product at the site where it’s made, and this is precisely what you can do at this fantastic JQ-based independent. Sit amongst the barrels and enjoy one of Attic Brew Co.’s amazing beers right at their origin. As well as the delicious beers that are aged on-site, you can enjoy all of Attic’s other well-loved beers too, so you really are spoilt for choice.

Naturally, the main focus at The Barrel Store (the sister venue to Stirchley’s Attic Brew Co.) is amazing beers. The venue boasts 16 taps filled with fresh-as-you-can-get beers brewed at their HQ in Stirchley with lots of great options available no matter what your tastes are. All of their beers are vegan (and all of their food menu can be made vegan too). For the non-beer drinkers out there they also offer an array of wines, spirits, shooters, cocktails and low/no alcohol drinks too, thus catering for everyone.

At The Barrel Store they have a small kitchen, from which they serve a menu of delicious Neapolitan style pizzas and panuozzos (a street food style dish from Campania, combining pizza and sandwich) alongside some yummy sides and sharers too (think cheesy garlic bread, dough sticks, and baked camembert). All of their food is made with love from authentic ingredients and is the perfect accompaniment to those delicious beers.

Community and inclusivity are at the heart of Attic Brew Co’s aims for The Barrel Store, so they proudly support a host of other fabulous local independents including Wine Freedom, Odi + Moo, Yorks Coffee, The Tiny Door Bookstore, The Book Club JQ and more, to provide a truly wonderful and varied local offering.

As well as being a wonderful place to enjoy a pint and a pizza, The Barrel Store are keen to be a big part of the local community, hosting regular events such as quiz nights, sports showings, games nights, speed dating and comedy shows to bring people together. These friendly and intimate events are a great way to get out there and have some fun whilst also supporting this brilliant independent business. They’ve also recently introduced their ‘Eat A Metre Pizza’ challenge where contenders have 20 minutes to conquer a metre-long pizza. Do you think you could take on the challenge?

The interior at The Barrel Store is full of industrial vibes, with a minimalist look featuring metal beams, concrete floors and a neutral colour palette. The barrels and brewing equipment provide a focal point in this warehouse-style venue, nestled under the iconic railway arches of The Jewellery Quarter. The perfect mix of cosy yet airy, this is a fun and cool place to hang out whilst drinking some tasty beers and devouring a pizza or two.
