In our opinion, you can never have enough coffee.

If you’re a caffeine addict, you’ll know the sheer joy when you find an all important, steaming hot cup of the good stuff. So we’re always excited to hear when awesome coffee shops are opening up in the city, especially when they offer a killer brunch menu too.

Introducing Wayland’s Yard.

Located on Bull Street, Wayland’sYard is a laid-back coffee shop serving serious brews and delicious brunches.

It’s no secret that we here at Independent Birmingham love a good cup of coffee. It’s also no secret that we love our food. So anywhere that combines the two is already a winner in our books. Wayland’s Yard is the independent coffee shop on the block that does just that. Combining delicious coffee with a scrumptious brunch menu, and conveniently (for those who work there) located in the city centre, meaning you can have a bite to eat or your daily caffeine fix, without straying too far from the office.

Whether you’re looking for your morning grab-and-go brew, a midday meeting spot, or a place to hang out and enjoy a tasty lunch or brunch, then Wayland’s Yard is the one. Settle down with a nice hot cuppa and soak in the cool coffee shop vibes, or bring your laptop for an out-of-office work space.

Wayland’s got busy during the 2020 lockdown and opened Bristol coffee roasters – Odd Kin Coffee – a long held dream of theirs. They’re on a mission to serve the best speciality coffee they can and make it accessible for all, so having control over the coffee sourcing and building direct relationships with farmers was really important to them. They also have state-of-the-art equipment and highly-trained baristas to make sure your coffee is tippity top. In the coffee shop they have a continuous rotation of espressos, including a house blend and two single origins, on filter and espresso. This allows the customer to add some variety and try new blends, keeping things fresh and interesting.

To accompany your coffee, you may want to grab a bite to eat. Well, luckily, Wayland’s Yard have a brunch/lunch menu full of delicious and hearty options to choose from (and they just happen to be highly instagrammable too, so make sure that phone is fully charged, you’ll want to take a snap or two to show off). On the menu are the usual brunch staples: eggs on toast, eggs Benedict, and some ace sounding breakfast and brunch baps to name but a few.

However, Wayland’s Yard are taking brunch to new levels with some of their favourites on the menu. From eggy crumpets (crumpets, dipped in egg, served with homemade smoked chilli jam and halloumi – errr yes PLEASE) to their fluorescent pink hollandaise sauce (yes, really) and their eggs Aussie (like eggs Benedict but with chorizo and avo hummus instead of bacon), they’ve definitely got your new favourite brunch choice here. Not to mention the unicorn tea…

All of the food is made fresh daily in the kitchen, and everything that is served is made with produce from local suppliers. If the brunch options don’t take your fancy, they also have a regularly changing sandwich, bagel, toastie and salad offering which are available to eat in or take away. This is certain to become your new pit stop for those on-the-go lunches between meetings, as well as those relaxed brunches with friends.

Wayland’s Yard is truly a space for the whole community to enjoy and they pride themselves on the quality of the food and coffee they serve. Strong relationships with local suppliers help this indie to put out awesome brunch for the good people of Birmingham, and you definitely need to go check them out.
